A Mexican Invasion?

I'm beginning to think so...

With all the talk about this immigration bill, I started doing a little digging. I found information on different political groups that are supporting this legislation. And a term I kept finding in different places was Aztlan. It's meaning is "the mythical place of origin of the Aztec peoples." And there are those that believe the Southwestern United States makes up Aztlan. See map below:

Now, I've read some positions about our immigration problems. I've heard some talk show hosts say we're being "invaded." I never really bought into that because it just sounded a bit extreme to me. And contrary to popular belief, I am a reasonable guy. But the more and more I research this myself, the more and more questions I have. And I'm not liking the answers I'm finding. Like a video I found that was put together by http://www.immigrationwatchdog.com/ that really kind of freaks me out. It consists of different Latino speakers at different rallies and events. And I'm not talking about foreign speakers. I'm talking about American citizens that hold public office in this country. So, while watching this, I immediately had questions and comments. So, utilizing my computer, I added some questions and comments to the video. Click the picture below to watch the video.

And yes, I picked that picture on purpose just to piss you off. After hearing some of those comments in the video, I was rather pissed off myself so that picture seems rather appropriate.

Now, I really don't think that those comments represent every illegal immigrant. I don't think they represent the entire Latino population. I work with several Latinos on a daily basis and I don't get the feeling any one of them is looking to invade my country and take it over. But it's clear, from the protesters in that video, the speakers in that video, there are some people that truly believe they have a divine right to come across our borders and do as they please. Well, I'm sorry, but that's where I draw the line. (As if one hasn't been drawn already...)

If you want to come to America and make a better life for yourself and your family, God bless you and send me an e-mail and I may even help you do it. But when if you think it's OK to just come across our border at will, in defiance of our laws, and our procedures, then I have a problem with that.

I certainly have a problem with giving amnesty to those that have done that already. And make no mistake, that is exactly what this legislation does. If that bill passes both houses of Congress, and the President signs it, it will immediately give the 12 to 20 million illegal immigrants a legal status in this country. Yes, there are provisions that state they have to do this and that to become American citizens. But if we can't find the 12 to 20 million people to deport them, how will we find them to insure they are taking those steps? I've seen very little that leads me to believe the vast majority of the illegals actually want to become citizens of this country. Those steps to become a citizen are predicated on the notion that they actually desire citizenship. And why would they desire citizenship if we've just given them a legal status?

Do our gooberment officials, in all their wisdom have a plan for these low paid illegals to come up with the $5000 fine that will be required? Not yet, but I'm sure that in the future, we would see a gooberment program proposed to help those low paid workers to pay that fine. Which means, we will pay the fine for them.

As immigration law stands right now, you have to go through a medical screening process prior to entering this country legally. If we grant any kind of legal status to the current illegals here, will they have to pass through any kind of medical screening process? No. They're here and they're legal, regardless of any public health risk they may pose. Why isn't anyone asking those questions? I realize we have become a very sensitive nation. And we don't want to hurt any one's feelings by asking them if they're carrying any kind of disease. But sensitivity in place of common sense is a recipe for serious problems.

Bottom line here is this: If you want to come to the U.S. and find a better life for you and your family, I'm all for that. But you do it legally. If you want to come here to try and reclaim some piece of land that once belonged to your ancestors, well, then you better pack a lunch because most Americans won't let that happen without a fight. And to our representatives in the Federal Gooberment, quit trying to bullshit me and tell me this bill isn't an amnesty bill. Doubt my words? After filing an application and waiting 24 hours, illegal aliens will receive full “probationary benefits,” complete with the ability to legally live and work in the U.S., travel outside of the U.S. and return, and their own social security card. Astonishingly, if the trigger is never met and amnesty applications are therefore never “approved,” the probationary benefits granted to the illegal alien population never expire, and the new social security cards issued to the illegal alien population are not revoked. Look, I'm just a simple man that loves his country and knows the difference between right and wrong. This bill is wrong. This movement by the Aztlan community is wrong. And allowing either to move forward, could be disastrous for this country.
